"I wrote a lot of the pieces of BLUE at one night, they all came from the same simple place. BLUE aims at pianist of all ages and levels. Beginner pianists can play and enjoy this slow and simple music, while it has the depth, harmonic interest, and another level of challenge for experienced pianists as well. the pieces are easy to learn but hard to master. ride the pulse, soften the left hand and let the right hand lead, while the left accompany softly underneath."

"I wrote PURPLE for my students to have fun and enjoy the music that they play while climbing to the next level. I hope that the music would reach many piano students and help them develop and enjoy their musical journey, and will help piano teachers to create enjoyable lessons and keep the students engaged."

Anyone who teaches picky teenage students will be excited to learn about this fresh new series of books. I was impressed to find music that sounded more like something I would hear at a jazz club than music I would expect to teach to junior high students...

On top of all the great pedagogy, the pieces are quirky, harmonically interesting...and are just fun to play, fun to listen to, and good selections for a student piano recital.

" Mr. Perl has given us some really sophisticated contemporary jazz music that can be really played well by pianists with limited experience or limited dexterity. The pieces don't feel watered down or childish, no stereotypes here. This music is appropriate for young people up to octogenarians...

This series is well-written and, I believe, has a wonderful purpose and place in our piano lessons. Whether you use it for fun recital pieces, for instruction on chords and harmony, or simply for occasional sight reading, it will be a great asset to the musical training of our students.
Jenny Boster, The Teaching Studio Read the complete review here
The pieces are appealing to the ear and would make a great supplemental book for a student interested in blues and jazz styles...they would work equally well both for young students and teen/adult students.

Melody Piano gives the compositions a huge A+! I would sincerely reccomend them to any musician...I am confident that my students would say the same thing considering the fun they are having working with each new song!

The books "achieve so much of musical interest and harmonic variety in otherwise simple pedagogical music. I know this to be a very difficult goal to achieve..." Albert Frantz, Key-notes.com
Here you'll find the duet parts for different instruments for songs from the COLOR book series. Get the duets and start playing with your friends and family.
The duets are written for beginner-intermediate students and therefore are simple. The duets usually double the piano's right-hand part and therefore are easy to follow and play together with the pianist. Just keep your ears open, look for the melody, and blend in...
Be creative, these songs were written for the piano, but you should explore the sounds of your instrument. If you play the guitar, try overdrive or other effects. if violin is your instrument, try pizzicato or try to play an octave higher or lower, etc.
the duets are currently available for:
oboe
alto sax
flute
Bb clarinet
violin
Bb trumpet
